KOCHI: Kerala high court has observed that the nepotism accusations against Minister K T Jaleel were politically-motivated. While considering the case, the high court harshly criticised Youth League leader P K Firos. The Vigilance pointed out in the court that there was no substance in the complaint submitted by Firos.
Jaleel’s nephew (father’s brother's son) K T Abeed, who was the senior manager of South Indian bank) has been appointed on deputation as the general manager of Minority Development Finance Corporation. It was Firos who first came up with the allegation that Jaleel bypassed rules to appoint his relative to a top government post. This was soon followed by protests by other parties including the Youth Congress.
Following the allegation T K Adeeb had resigned from the government post, saying that he was doing so as his self-respect had come to be questioned.
Earlier also, there was an instance of a court criticising Firos. At that time, the judge had warned him not to make the court a venue to play politics.
