KATTAPPANA: A ruined church caught the eyes of the audience in the film Lucifer. The church was not a set made for shooting, but a real one. However, now the church has been renovated. The specialty is that the church renovated by Aashirvad Cinema, which was a promise.

This church is situated near Upputhara in Idukki. When Lucifer’s crew came to this place for shooting, they made a promise that after the completion of shooting, a renovated church will be given to the locals. They kept their promise as they spend Rs 8 lakhs to change its look to what we see now.

The church is historic. It was built by J.M. Wilkey as a place of worship for the devotees of four division. Even though it is known as St. Andrews CSI church, it served as a union church for the priests of Marthoma, Orthodox and Jacobite factions. When these factions got separate churches, this place was abandoned. The church lost its glory and was ruined with the passage of time. The name ‘Dracula Church’ gained popularity.
