The Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (AMMA) meet convened here recently gained immense news coverage. Film lovers were eager to know what decision AMMA general body will take on the issues voiced by Women in Cinema Collective (WCC). However AMMA president Mohanlal said the amendment to the bylaw has been postponed temporarily. Beyond all that, Actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy said there were some healthy reactions at this time’s annual meet. It was Mammootty who led this, the actress said in an interview to ‘Cue’.

There was an instruction from the executive committee that a letter should be given if the resigned actresses want to return. However, Mammootty intervened and stopped it, she said. Mammootty intervened when the committee demanded a letter from them. He said it is not needed. Then everyone clapped. All agreed to it. There are no differences of opinion between the members and office bearers of the executive committee. Actresses Revathy and Parvathy said this amendment could not be passed thinking that the majority is not against it.

There were news earlier that Mammootty directly held talks with WCC members Revathy and Parvathy in between the meet. At the press meet convened by Mohanlal after the meeting, Mammootty had asked not to accept membership fees when the resigned actresses are taken back, Jagadheesh, also an executive member said. This was opposed by vice president Ganesh Kumar. This shows that there are differences of opinion amongst the members. Mohanlal also the president is the organisation’s official spokesperson, informed Ganesh Kumar.
