KASARGOD: There was a major theft at Peralil Chirma Bhagavathy Temple at Neeleswaram in Kasargod. Almost 30 sovereigns of gold including the Thiruvabharanam adorning the idol were found stolen. Some silver ornaments were also stolen. The theft was noticed early Sunday morning.
The ornaments stored in the kalavara were found stolen. The burglars got inside after breaking the lock of the kalavara. Along with expensive ornaments, palm leaf engravings were also found stolen. Police have started a probe on the complaint lodged by the temple administration.
