THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A verbal dispute broke out during a flash inspection conducted by food safety department at the Palayam Market. Fish sellers blocked the officials who came to inspect. They protested alleging that the officials are taking away good fishes.

The inspection was conducted Monday morning following a complaint that stale fish are being sold in markets as trawling ban continues.

The officials said stale fish were seized from the market. Meantime, fish sellers said that they don’t know to check and are taking away fresh ones. Authorities said inspection will continue in the coming days.
