THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State sports department has allotted Rs 3 lakh as immediate financial aid to teen sports star Athulya who is suffering from a disease that results in the contraction of lungs

The government has also made arrangements for her further treatment in KIMS hospital.

"The Sports department came to know about her diseased state only after it appeared in a newspaper. Athulya was first admitted to hospital after he was found to be having an infection in the brain. Though she returned to the track after treatment, she again became ill. In the examination conducted thereafter, it was found out that she needed an expensive surgery for getting well soon.

Athulya was one of the most talented students in G V Raja Sports School. She was the gold medal winner of 400-metre hurdles in the last State meet and silver medal winner in the national meet. She was also good at her studies," according to Sports Minister E P Jayarajan's Facebook post.
