THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The punaprathishta (reinstallation) ceremony of famous Pazhavangadi Ganapathy temple will take place today (Thursday).

Kumbabhishekam will also be performed on the thazhikakkudam of the renovated temple. Rituals like Mula pooja, homam and Kalasha pooja were performed on Wednesday itself.

Today ceremonies will start following Usha pooja at 8 am. The auspicious occasion for reinstallation is between 11 and 11:40 am. The reinstallation of the idols of Durga devi, Vettakkoru Makan and Naga gods will also take place besides the installation of the idol of the main deity Lord Ganesh.

Poojas and Kumbabhishekam will be led by a special team of military and Thiruvathira committee. All arrangements have been made for hassle-free darshan and regulation of devotees who are expected to turn out in large numbers.

From July 12 to 15, pujas will continue and the ceremonies will come to an end on July 16 with the breaking of 1008 coconuts, the main offering to the deity.
