KOZHIKODE: Kerala Police have come to the assistance of people who are staying alone. With their new project “Bell of Faith” the police aims to provide security to those staying alone. The police will place a bell with the size of a set-top box in such houses. In situations of dangers, the police can be informed through this bell.
On receiving information of any threat to the resident, assigned volunteers will reach the house within ten minutes. Police have given necessary training to the volunteers. The police have selected those who are interested in such services. On an experimental basis, the police have placed the bell at 28 residence in the Gujarati Street in Kozhikode.
The police might include this system in the govt’s ‘Vayomithram’ project which is for the old citizens. As the first phase, the police is planning to fix the bells at 141 houses in Kozhikode. After fixing the bell, the police will also collect info with the cooperation of residents’ associations.
