THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan termed as ‘unfortunate’ on the incidents that happened in the University College. The party will not protect the accused. Strict action will be taken against the guilty and one should be cautious to avoid such incidents, he told reporters after visiting Akhil in the medical college hospital.
Kodiyeri said, “The party will not protect any of the accused. The police will decide on further steps as part of the probe. The party will not interfere in disrupting the activities of the investigating team. As a student organization, the SFI functions independently. There are CPM and non-CPM members in the organization. Usually the decision of the party is not imposed on the SFI. The organisation has the ability to take their own decisions independently.
Political enemies have been trying for some time to get the college shifted from there. There is no need to change the college just because of a scuffle. The incidents happened not just because the college was there. Caution is needed to avoid such incidents. Strict action will be taken against the guilty, he said.
