THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police Sunday issued a look out notice against eight SFI activists in the case of stabbing a third degree student Akhil of University College. Seven were earlier arraigned in the case. The notice has included the name of Renjith also. In the meanwhile, the police has registered the arrest of Ijab taken into custody in the morning. Ijab is a native of Nemom and is one among the 30 arraigned in the case. The arrest of Ijab, a member of the SFI local unit committee, was recorded after a detailed interrogation. Police said though a search was conducted, they could not trace them.

Meantime, the investigating team was not able to record the statement of Akhil, undergoing treatment in the hospital. The team had to go back after the doctors attending on him said his health condition was not satisfactory. The police have registered a case against Sivarenjith, Nazeem, Amar, Adwaith, Aadil, Aaromal, Ibrahim and 30 others identified.

Although students said the accused are in SFI-controlled Students Center and Organization Office, the police did not conduct a search there. Meanwhile, there are allegations that the police are trying to settle the case to save Nazeem and Shivarenjith, who had obtained police constable selection. However, the CPM district leaders denied it. Meantime, Akhil’s father Chandran said that his son told him that it was SFI unit president Sivarenjith and secretary Nazeem, who stabbed him. When Nazeen and his friends caught hold of him, Sivarenjith stabbed him. There were students from outside the college. All the accused should be nabbed. The CPM leadership has promised all support, he said.

Akhil, a SFI activist and a degree student was attacked in a clash that broke out over singing in the canteen. Akhil, who was stabbed on the chest is in the intensive care unit of the medical college. He was subjected for a surgery and is out of danger but remains unresponsive and so the police was not able to register his statement.
