THIRUVNANATHAPURAM: PSC chairman M K Zakir has come out with an explanation over the entry of two accused in the recent University murder attempt case and former Union representative in the first rank list for the recruitment to the fourth police battalion.
“Accused candidates Sivaranjith, Pranav and Nazeem had opted for Thiruvananthapuram as centre in their application for the PSC exam.
All three persons took the examination in various centres in Thiruvananthapuram. We have not favoured them while allotting them exam centres nor have we helped them in writing the exam.
What is going on now is the campaign that would ruin the credibility of the PSC. However, an inquiry will be conducted to clear doubts.
PSC Internal Vigilance team will conduct the probe. Till we get the probe report from them, recruitment from the rank list will remain suspended,” he said at a press conference here on Monday.
The PSC chairman said that 16,540 candidates from Thiruvananthapuram had applied for police battalions in other districts. They could opt for centres in any district.
“No one can interfere in the procedures for allotting centres. In the centres where the accused candidates took the examination, no anomaly was reported and hence the allegation of irregularity in these centres are baseless.
The PSC’s job is to give a recommendation for the recruitment of eligible candidates in various government departments.
And, it is the responsibility of the government to check whether the appointed candidates have any criminal case against them,” he added.
