THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Court remanded accused for attempting to murder third-year degree student Akhil at University College here. The accused Sivaranjith, Nasim, Aromal, Aadil and Adwaith were remanded for 14 days. The police opposed their bail plea in the court by saying it might cause unrest in the city. The court dismissed the plea of prime accused Sivaranjith to allow in-patient treatment as he injured his hand while attacking Akhil.
Sivaranjith and Nasim, after confessing to their crime to the police in the morning, changed their statement later. In the FIR it is stated that Akhil was stabbed by Sivaranjith., which the accused denied later. The accused also didn’t give any clues as to where the weapons are hidden.
Meanwhile, the college council summoned on Monday morning suspended the seven accused students indefinitely. The order reads that these students cannot enter the college without the principal’s permission and their ID cards are deemed void. Actions will be taken against other students involved in the incident after the report of the investigation panel, the order says.
