THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nasim and Sivaranjith, the accused in the murder attempt of third-year degree student Akhil at University College came to the fitness test for police constable position a few months back in an official vehicle. A leader of the union who is a member of armed battalion arranged for their stay, food and an extra facility of police jeep for travel in and around Kannur, where the test was held. It is also alleged that the leader had also interfered in the test.

Nasim was the accused in the case related to beating a police official in traffic duty after which this heroic welcome was given In Kannur. Sivaranjith and another SFI unit member appeared with them for the fitness test.

It is learned that the influence of some top guns in the police force is behind the welcome the accused received. The details regarding the fitness test in Kannur surfaced after Nasim’s name went public in relation to the murder attempt case in University College. PSC’s battalion shortlist was published at a time when Nasim was accused of beating a policeman. This is further proof that Nasim is influential in the police force as well.

Earlier, the police arrested Nasim for assaulting police officer after he went into hiding for two months. Even in the latest murder attempt of Akhil, the accused Nasim and Sivaranjith was nowhere to be found for two days, after which they were arrested. Bundles of unused answer sheets of University found from Sivaranjith’s house and his inclusion in the PSC shortlist has sparked another controversy. PSC has declared a probe on the incident, which could reveal further details in the upcoming days.
