THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the violent incident in University College Trivandrum, fresh allegations are coming up against SFI from other colleges as well. Now, the students of Govt Arts College Trivandrum have come up protesting against the SFI unit in the college.
Recently, an audio clip released online in which SFI leaders can be heard threatening girl students for not participating in CPI(M)’s Vanitha Mathil event. According to the students, those who complain to the teachers get threatened and manhandled within the college premises.
Apart from this, each student is forced to pay 150Rs to the SFI and acquire membership on the day of admission itself. The leaders will be waiting at the college gates to collect this amount and anyone who refuses to pay will get threatened. Students also mentioned that they can go out of the campus only after obtaining permission from the SFI leaders.
A student also added that the SFI leaders do rounds to check mobile phones and dressing of the students. If found guilty in any of these issues, the student is subjected to verbal abuse. However, this prohibition of mobile phones seem to be applicable only for students as the student leaders can be seen using mobiles at their own will
