THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as the fasting staged by KSU activities was going on in front of the Secretariat in protest against the University College incidents, a few KSU activities managed to enter the Secretariat premise and put up a strong protest.

It was in between the fast led by KSU State president K M Abhijit that a bunch of protesters led by firebrand KSU woman leader Shilpa charged towards the chief minister’s office.

In the light of the Intelligence report on the manner of protest, there was a strong police bandobast inside the Secretariat. But Shilpa and three male KSU protesters jumped over the highly ‘fortified’ wall and barged into the Secretariat, triggering a chain of dramatic moments.

A strong posse of the police force was already deployed inside the Secretariat as the cabinet meeting was going on inside and the protests were going on outside. The four protestors including Shilpa bypassed the Security cordon and ran towards the chief minister’s office through the side of Darbar hall. Though police grabbed the KSU activists who first ran towards them, they could not ‘capture’ the KSU tigress. She shouted slogans that reverberated through the Secretariat.

Now, what is trending in social media is the exploits of Shilpa. But Shilpa is not a KSU activist out of the blue. She is the member of the third ward of Arimboor Panchayat. She started her public life when she was 21 as a panchayat member. Currently, she is the State secretary of KSU. She was an aggressive politician even during her college days.

There was tension in front of the chief minister’s office as there were no women police officers to detain Shilpa. Shouting KSU slogans, she stayed put there for several minutes. Later, women police officers were called in and she was taken away.

Also a noted advocate, Shilpa is the daughter of Parameswaran and Omana.
