IDUKKI: The Crime Branch has found out that about Rs 1.5 lakh seized from Rajkumar, the private financier who died in Nedumkandam police custody, was divided among a few policemen under the direction of Niyaz.
The Crime Branch has started a detailed inquiry following this finding. The accused policemen have confessed that the condition of Rajkumar, who was taken into custody on June 12, deteriorated due to continuous third-degree torture and a fake document was made to show that he was given station bail on June 13.
According to sources, third accused Niyaz and fourth accused Sajeev Antony have given a statement to the Crime Branch that the fake documents were made according to the instructions of SI K A Sabu.
Nedumkandam station driver Niyaz is learned to have revealed to the Crime branch that Rajkumar was beaten up as per the instructions of SI K A Sabu and ASI C B Rejimon.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has found out that it was according to CPO Sajeev Antony’s instructions, a complaint was given to former DySP through Nedumkandam panchayat member Alice Thomas, in order to save the policemen from the case.
Now, more arrests of policemen are expected in the coming days. The investigation into Haritha Finance scam is also fast progressing.
