THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala sought the intervention of the Governor in the University College issue. The government should take the initiative for a CBI probe on issues like the clash in the college and PSC appointments, Chennithala said while talking to the media after calling on the governor. There are attempts to sabotage the case. There are many issues including corruption in PSC rank list and nepotism, he said.

The Governor must intervene in this matter not only as Governor but also as Chancellor and as the appointee of the PSC.

There is a situation where the credibility of the university and the PSC is losing. The PSC is not doing its duty. The syndicate subpanel is trying to topple the case. Even members of the CPI were not included in the panel, Chennithala pointed.

The government has so far not been able to take any action. The higher education sector is on the verge of collapse. No action has been taken either from the side of the chief minister or from the minister in charge of the higher education department. All these things were briefed to the governor. He has taken the issue seriously, Chennithala said.
