KOLLAM: The body of one of the fishermen who had gone missing at Neendakara while going for trolling has been fished out.
The body has been identified to be that of Tamil Nadu native Sahaya Raju. The body was found on Achuthengu stores. The search operation for him, who had gone missing the other day, was carried out by Coastguard and Navymen.
It was the Dornier plane of the Coastguard that first reached the spot at around 10 am from Kochi.They conducted search in the sea along Neendakara, Thankassery, Eravipuram and Varkala region and returned by noon.
By that time, came Navy’s helicopter. They searched till 5 in the evening and they returned. The boats of the Coastguard that had reached from Vizhinjam had also conducted the search.
Choppy seas had wrecked the boat carrying five fishermen a few kilometres off Neendakara coast on Friday morning. The three fishermen from Neerody, Kanyakumari, who went missing off Kollam coast are yet to be rescued.
Two of the men, Nicholas and Stalin, swam back to safety by 1 p.m. Three others, Raju, John Bosco and Sahayaraju, are missing.
