Ottappalam: Sub Inspector Vipin K Venugopal who was investigating the theft at Ottappalam Municipality office, got transferred on Friday. However, no replacement has been announced in Ottappalam station so far.
According to the Palakkad Police Chief, Vinod has been handed the transfer order for delaying procedures in the Ottapalam Municipality theft case. It is said that Vinod did not arrest councilor Sujatha even after her confession regarding the theft. Vinod has been transferred to the District Police Headquarters.
However, some suggest that the transfer has been made in order to protect Sujatha who is a councilor of CPM. They added that attempts had been made to destroy the FIR as soon it was found that two CPM councilors are under investigation. Sujatha has been accused of stealing Rs.38000 from the bag of Public Works Permanent Committee head Latha.
It must be noted that the transfer took place just before submission of the charge sheet in the court.
