PALAKKAD: The express train from Palakkad to Chennai had a narrow escape from the face of danger. Other state labourers piled some rocks on a railway track, sat on it and got drunk. Loco pilot of the express train to Chennai that started from Pollachi station at 4.30 pm, stopped the train near Makkinampatti Min Nagar as he heard a loud noise from the tracks. On inspection, rocks and liquor bottles were found on the tracks. Madhura division was notified about this.
The police arrested three Bihar natives, Kota Lalram (39), Lalji Maaji (36) and Nagendra Maaji (33), were arrested. Railway police inspected the spot. The accused were arrested on information provided by the locals.
All three arrested are employees of a private oil company in Makkinampatti.
A major disaster was avoided as some rocks got shattered on impact with the train.
