THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chathannoor MLA GS Jayalal, who has been accused of corruption in a private hospital deal, will face disciplinary action, said CPI state leadership on Monday. According to sources, Jayalal might be asked to step down from his official positions in the party.

Jayalal, a member of the Kollam district council and the state council of the CPI, has been accused of getting involved in a financial deal without informing the party. According to the party leadership, Jayalal has not been able to explain the source of Rs 1 crore given by him in the deal.

Jayalal got into trouble when his Santhwanam Hospital Co-operative society signed an agreement of Rs 5.25 crores with a private hospital in Kollam district. Jayalal, the president of the co-operative society, signed the agreement without getting prior permission from CPI.
