THRISSUR: The Heritage Animal Task force has lodged a complaint against Yathish Chandra IPS after he was seen helping his son to touch an elephant at the Vadakkunnathan temple. The IPS officer was participating in the Aanayoootu festival at the temple when the alleged incident took place.

Earlier, the photos which showed the officer helping his son to touch an elephant went viral in the social media sites. However, this did not go down well with the Heritage Animal Task Force who wrote a complaint to the State Governor and Child Rights Commission chairman siting that there must be a distance of 3 meters between man and elephant.

According to the representatives of the task force, the IPS officer should not have taken the child near to the animal as it is against the law. They also pointed out that while the officer made sure that this law was not violated during the Thrissur Pooram earlier this year, the same officer went on to violate it now in front of the media.
