LONDON: Former Mayor Boris Johnson has been elected as British Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader. Boris, who has won by a handsome margin, is expected to take charge on Wednesday. Almost 16600 Conservative members took part in the election.
Meanwhile, British education minister Anne Milton has announced her resignation following the election results. It has been reported that she resigned her post expressing concern about Britain leaving the European Union without a deal.
The election to the posts of British Prime Minister and Conservative party leader took place after former Prime Minister Theresa May stepped down on June 7th.
