TANUR: Person who was handed over to police by the locals in a theft case in Kattilangadi possesses two luxury houses worth 1.5 crores each. Noushad (40), a native of Cherppulassery, is now accused of stealing 13 sovereign gold and Rs 6000 from several houses in Kattilangadi. The accused has been remanded by Parappanangadi court. As per the police, the accused own two luxury houses in Cherppulassery. He had made the locals and his family believe that he is working abroad. Once every six months, he will return home with costly stuff. There are about 10 cases against the accused in Pattambi and Cherppulassery. However, most of these cases were dismissed due to the lack of evidence.
The local youth of Kattilangadi in Tanur were determined to catch the thief due to repeated incidents of theft.
After some enquiry based on the suspect’s physicality, it was found that a person with similar appearance used to arrive at the station at 12 midnight on Malabar Express from Mangalore. Then the investigation was shifted to Malabar Express. The local youth found the thief who got on Malabar Express and followed him. When he stepped down at Tanur, the police was informed. The suspect who tried to flee was caught by the police.
Screwdriver, iron rod, cutting machine, mask, and gloves were in the possession of the accused.
