THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan termed as unfortunate the incident of attacking many including the CPI district secretary and MLA during a march staged to the IG office in Kochi. The attack towards the CPI activists have disturbed us severely. We have communicated with the chief minister and the CPI in this regard. The problem will be resolved without any disputes. A complaint has obtained on the clash between SFI and AISF in some places. Leaders of the two parties will be summoned and the matter will be resolved by discussing it, he said.

Kodiyeri said the district collector has started a probe on the incident. Statements of many including Eldo Abraham MLA undergoing treatment will be recorded. The statements would be taken after summoning the police officers. The report will be handed over to the chief minister within ten days. The chief minister asked Ernakulam collector S Suhas also the district magistrate to submit a report after Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan informed the chief minister the party’s protest on the incident. The CPI activists staged a march to the Kochi range IG office seeking action against Njarakkal circle inspector. The area became tense when the police stopped the march. The activists and the police clashed with one another later.
