THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said there are attempts to undermine the credibility of the PSC. PSC is an institution which is more efficient and reliable than any other states in India. Some are trying to create panic among the youth by misrepresenting a well-functioning institution, the chief minister said.

Pinarayi said complaints can be lodged but PSC's credibility should not be damaged and will accept criticisms. There is no outside involvement in examinations or appointments. This is not so in many other states. PSC's credibility is based on flawless performance. The criticism against PSC is part of a nationwide crackdown on constitutional institutions.

Two students of University College were accused of illegally entering the list of candidates. It was proven wrong, he said. The credibility of the institution functioning transparently is being question, alleged the chief minister.

Pinarayi said unleashing violence in the college will not be encouraged and anyone trying to tarnish the image of the college will not be spared. If there is a wrong trend, the move to abolish the institution cannot be taken. Attempts should be made from all sides to address the faults. Instead, the attempt to abolish the college from some angles should be seen seriously. This will not be allowed in any circumstances. If there are people, anyone can do organisational work in the University College. The government is of the view that organisations have the right to do so.

Meantime, the chief minister said that over 1, 21,000 files are found pending in 37 departments. He added that an intensive programme has been scheduled to settle the files.
