THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan has given a light-hearted reply to BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan’s FB post, asking the former to go to the moon if he can’t tolerate chanting of Jai Shri Ram.

“If somebody gives me a ticket to the moon, I shall go there. Till now, the instruction was to go to Pakistan but today I’m allowed to go to the moon… that is nice.

Reacting to Gopalakrishnan’s tirade, Adoor said my protest was not against chanting of Jai Shri Ram but it was against making clarion calls for killings in the name of Jai Shri Ram. If BJP men come to my house to chant Jai Shri Ram, I shall also join them and imitate them,” he told media persons in Thiruvananthapuram.

Adoor said he had not blamed anyone in his letter to the prime minister. “I just wanted to bring the violent incidents in the country to the notice of the prime minister. After this incident, I have been receiving threatening calls from North India and other places,” he said.

Director Kamal and T V Chandran had also come out in support of Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Earlier, in a Facebook post, B Gopalakrishnan had criticised Adoor for writing to the prime minister against the “chanting of Jai Shri Ram”.
