It’s been ten years since Deepan's Prithviraj film ‘Puthiya Mugham’ ’ has hit the theatres. The film Puthiya Mugham presented the actor a new face. The audience accepted the film telling the story of a young musician Krishna Kumar with both hands. Now scriptwriter Sindhuraj has revealed the birth of the film.
‘A friend of mine told me the thread of the film when I went to attend a marriage function in Alappuzha. A youth from a family haunted by mental illness joins an engineering college. He was subjected to cruel ragging there and as part of it, he loses his mental balance. All believed that his illness was hereditary. Nobody believed the abuse he suffered. The youth finally committed suicide,’ said Sindhuraj.
I heard the story when I was travelling and I soon called director Padmaraj and told him the story. It was Padmaraj who told me about Deepan.
From the beginning I had in mind Prithviraj as the actor. He liked the story and became part of the film. There were two heroines in the film. Taking them along was a very difficult job. The audience liked the way we adopted it, he told in an interview to a channel.
The film released in 2009. Meera Nandan and Priyamani were the two heroines of the film.
