THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Strict action will be taken against the police officials using third degree methods in police stations and jails, said DGP Lokanath Behera. He directed district police chiefs to make a list of police officers and submit it in a week. If proven guilty, strict action will be taken. The DGP also directed to inform if there is anyone using third degree methods in local stations. He said this amid escalating custodial tortures.
The DGP said custodial torture will not be tolerated. The move to nab those using third degree methods is taken in the wake of police arraigned in the case including Nedumkandam custodial death cases. The DGP directed strict action after a meet of police officials was convened by the chief minister.
A re-post mortem will be conducted tomorrow on the body Rajkumar, who died in custodial death in Nedumkandam police station. The post mortem proceedings will be in the presence of Judicial Commission Justice Narayana Kurup.
