THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Akhil Nair, the first accused in the murder case of Rakhimol of Puthankada, has confessed to the crime. He admitted that he murdered her and then buried the body at the premises of his house in Amboori. He told police that she insisted in living with him and also threatened to commit suicide.

Akhil told police that he strangulated her in the car as she was not willing to withdraw from the relationship. Akhil told police that he dug a big pit in his house with the help of his father. The pit was dug to bury her. However, he said that his father does not have a role in the murder. He said that he left for Kashmir soon after committing the crime. Rakhi’s clothes and phone were thrown away by his brother Rahul.

Akhil was taken into custody last night. The Poovar Police who waited for him at the airport took him into custody soon after he reached here. Akhil is a soldier of the Indian Army in Delhi. After the murder, on June 27 he boarded the Rajdhani Express from Thiruvananthapuram and reached Delhi on June 29. But did not report to the military unit.

He had contacted his father and media from Delhi two days back. He told them that he does not have a role in the murder. The investigating team who found his mobile tower location sought the help of the Delhi police. He was under observation with the help of the Delhi police. A team led by Neyyattinkara DySP S Anil Kumar tactically brought him to the state and took him into custody.
