THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Neyyattinkara First Class Magistrate Court remanded Rahul, the second accused in the murder case of Rakhimol in Amboori, till August 9. The police informed the court that it was Akhil and Rahul who tightened the rope around her neck. Akhil had informed Rakhi via whatsapp his impending marriage with another girl. Soon after the message, Rakhi threatened to campaign against him via social media if that marriage takes place. The remand report says that following that, the three conspired to murder her.

Rakhi was invited to see the new house being constructed by her lover Akhi, a soldier of the Indian Army, Rahul, who was sitting behind strangulated her first. Later Akhil, who was in the driver’s seat came behind and tightened the plastic rope round her neck. Soon after her death was confirmed, they buried the body in the pit dug earlier.

Akhil, the first accused had confessed to the crime. He told police that she insisted in living with him and had also threatened to commit suicide. He said he strangulated her in the car after she refused to withdraw from the relationship. Akhil had earlier told police that the pit was dug with the help of his father. He said that he left for Kashmir soon after the crime and her clothes and phone were discarded by her brother Rahul.
