THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Akhilesh (Akhil) (24), the prime accused in Rakhimol murder case, was on Monday taken to Amboori Thattanmukku, where the murder was committed.
When he was taken to his under-construction house under strong police security in the morning, there was a big crowd to see the accused. Some shouted slogans against him and his family; some even hurled stones at him.
Akhilesh showed the police the place where he had parked the car in which he strangled and killed his former fiancée Rakhimol. Then, he narrated to the police how he buried her in the backyard of his house.
After that, he was taken to the shop where he had bought salt that was sprinkled on the body before burial. The evidence was collected by the police team led by CI Rajeev.
During the questioning, Akhilesh reportedly told the police that he decided to take her life when she was not ready to allow him marry another girl and, on the other hand, insisted on marrying him. He killed her after being confirmed that Rakhimol would never compromise her stand.
Akhil finally asked, “So shall I kill you,” and Rakhimol said, “yes you could kill me,”
“If Rakhi had withdrawn from marriage, I would not have killed her,” he added.
“Sitting in the back seat of the car, I first chocked her throat using my hands. When my hands started aching, I strangled her using the seat belt. Rakhi was mumbling something then..,” he confessed to the police.
At this point, the police opined, “It might have been an attempt to say that she had changed her stand. Can’t it be so?’’. Suddenly Akhilesh said then, “anyway I had laid my hand on her and thought of finishing her”.
Akhilesh further confessed that he and his two accomplices drove to his under-construction house after confirming her death and tying her body to the seat with a plastic rope.
After burying the body on the house premise, he reached his house, took a bath. Then the co-accused took him to Thiruvananthapuram Thampanoor bus station in the same car. On their way, he threw Rakhi’s dresses into the wayside thicket. From Thampanoor, he boarded an inter-state bus and travelled to Guruvayur. He left Rakhi’s bag inside the bus.
Having recorded the above statement, the police are yet to collect other evidence including Rakhi’s mobile phone. For that purpose, Rahul will also be questioned in the coming days.
