NEW DELHI: Alathur MP Ramya Haridas voiced the Unnao incident in the Lok Sabha yesterday. Ramya voiced the issue when discussions were going on in the POCSO Amendment Bill. She described the tragedy faced by the victim and her family. A discussion on the POCSO amendment bill being debated in the House at a time when the BJP MLA is an accused in the sexual abuse case is contradictory, blamed Ramya.
The BJP is trying to eliminate the girl and her family and those helping her. Justice should be given to victims of rape as early as possible. Aarrangements should be made to bring them back to normal life as soon as possible.
However, Minister Smriti Irani and other BJP members were offended by her statement. The congress member’s speech in Malayalam was deliberate and adding politics in the bill was not correct, said Kiron Kher. Other BJP members came forward supporting Kiron. Smriti Irani while replying too opposed her statement.
It was not right on the side of the congress member dragging BJP to the discussion. This does not mean that BJP leaders guilty of a heinous crime will be spared, said Smriti.
