THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to latest reports, IAS official Sriram Venkataraman has been remanded for 14 days in connection with the accident that led to the death of journalist KM Basheer. The magistrate reached the hospital at which Sriram is undergoing treatment and ordered him to be remanded. It is learnt that Sriram will continue to stay in the private hospital until the treatment is over.

Earlier, the police had also added Wafa Feroz to the accused list. It is learnt that she has been booked for encouraging rash driving which is a bailable offense. The motor vehicle department has also suspended the driving license of both. On the other hand, the police recorded the arrest of IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman at the private hospital and he has been charged with non-bailable sections of the IPC. As per the sections charged, he could be sentenced to 10 years in jail. Sriram will be jailed for a minimum of 30 days before he can get bail.
