SRINAGAR: As per reports, Pakistan terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Indian border. One attempt is reported to be successful as four or five militants might have crossed the border between July 29 and 31. According to sources, they had plotted an attack similar to the one in Pulwama in February.
On Sunday, the Indian army foiled an infiltration attempt in Jammu. Seven infiltrators of Pak’s BAT were gunned down by the Indian army. The army also released the pictures of the gunned down infiltrators.
In a sudden turn of events, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday suspended the Amarnath pilgrimage and told pilgrims to either stay away or cut short their trip, citing a terror alert.
As Kashmir remains restive, Union home minister Amit Shah is likely to visit the state after the conclusion of Parliament session next week, even as he held a review meeting in Delhi on Sunday.
On Sunday he held a meeting with top security officials and is believed to have discussed the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The hour-long meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and other senior officials.
