COIMBATORE: A ‘Drishyam Model’ murder has shocked Tamil Nadu. V Mutharasi, of Kethampatti near Vedasandur in Dindigul was killed by her boyfriend and dumped in a pit. The incident was in March. Muthurasi was in love with K Bharath, of Athukalpalayam near Dharapuram and eloped with him.
Mutharasi elder sister Tamilarasi lodged a woman missing case with the Vedasandur police. Tamilarasi, a police officer said, opposed their relationship and she had urged her younger sister to end the affair with Bharath. Mutharasi married Bharath. But on the same day, they quarrelled and Bharath beat her to death. A panicking Bharath informed his mother Lakshmi about the incident, she asked him to bring the body to their house in Athukalpalayam. They subsequently buried the body in the backyard of their house.
Within a week, Bharath married another woman. But Bharath’s wife complained about a foul smell, and his parents sent the couple to the wife’s residence. The case was dragging on until Oddanchatram MLA put pressure on the police to solve the case at the earliest. Following that, the police interrogated Bharath, who confessed to burying the body behind his house.
The police dug up the backyard of Bharath’s house but found the corpse of a puppy. On further questioning, it was found that Bharath’s father took out the body of Mutharasi as advised by a fortune teller and burned that in another place. The police have decided to arrest and interrogate the fortune teller as well.
