SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah expressed his fear that he along with other leaders in the state are being placed under house arrest. Omar stated this through his official Twitter page.
Omar stated, “I believe I’m being placed under house arrest from midnight tonight & the process has already started for other mainstream leaders. No way of knowing if this is true but if it is then I’ll see all of you on the other side of whatever is in store...”

It must be noted that Omar and various other leaders of the state had participated in an all-party meet earlier today during which they proclaimed that they would fight together to uphold the state’s identity and special status. Reports also suggest that former CM Mehbooba Mufti has also been placed under house arrest.
The Central government has also issued Prohibitory Order in the state under section 144 CrPC on Monday. It has prohibited movement of public and the educational institutions will remain shut. Earlier, the Centre had called off Amarnath Yatra as it received warnings about a terrorist attack from the intelligence agencies.
