THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: No trace of liquor was found in the body of IAS officer, Sreeram Venkitaraman, accused of killing a journo with his car under the influence of alcohol, the report said. The result was handed over to the police. Meantime, the officer has been shifted to the trauma ICU of the medical college hospital.

Eyewitnesses present at the spot had stated that the officer was drunk. His blood samples were collected after nine hours. He is likely to be suspended today. The journalists union had requested to make public his health report. He is in a state of severe mental stress and the service of a psychiatrist will be sought.

Meantime, hearing on his bail plea has been postponed to tomorrow. His lawyer said there is political-media pressure in the case. The investigating official sought his custody and wanted his finger prints to be examined.
