THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IAS officer Sreeram Venkitaraman, accused of killing a journo under the influence of alcohol, has been suspended from service. Based on the directive of the chief minister, Chief Secretary Tom Jose suspended him from the post of survey director.

The DGP had submitted a report to the chief secretary. The officer had rammed his car on K M Basheer, unit chief of Siraj daily Saturday morning, killing him on the spot. The officer remanded is presently undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital.
