NEW DELHI: Prominent personalities have come up congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government over the decision to scrap Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. While cricketer Suresh Raina called it a landmark move, actress Kangana Ranaut congratulated PM Modi by addressing him as 'brave' and 'visionary.'
The celebrities applauded the government's move through their social media accounts. Kangana stated in her Instagram page, "Scrapping of article 370 was long due, it is a historic step in the direction of terrorism free nation, I have been emphasising on this for the longest time, and I knew if anyone could achieve this impossible feat that is Mr. Modi, he is not only a visionary he has the required courage and strength of character to make unthinkable a reality. I congratulate entire Bharat including JnK on this historic day, we are together looking at a very bright future."
Suresh Raina tweeted, "Landmark move - scrapping of Article370! Looking forward to smoother, and more inclusive times. #JaiHind." Many other celebrities and common folks also applauded the government's through their social media profiles.

The idea to scrap Article 370 was presented by Home Minister Amit Shah in the Parliament amid great protests by opposition MPs. Jammu Kashmir will no longer enjoy special status which means all provisions of the Constitution will be applicable to the state from now on. President Ram Nath Kovind has issued the circular stating the revoking of Article 370.
