THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala came to the fore harshly criticising the PSC after finding the accused in the college stabbing issue in the PSC rank list. He was talking to the media after major irregularities and malpractice were spotted in the constable exam in which former SFI leaders Sivarenjith secured first rank and another accused Nizam securing 27th rank.
PSC’s dereliction of duty and nepotism are evident if one examine the accused finding place in the PSC rank list. There has been a planned effort to sabotage the constables’ exams and earn rank for their own people. The PSC chairman is also under suspicion. Changing the exam centre is also a violation and this will not happen without the knowledge of the chairman and so his role should also be probed.
The vigilance found that three people had committed irregularities. How did they find that only three have committed it? It should be clarified whether such malpractices had happened in other exams also. Have leaders of SFI and DYFI been entered in the rank list. Mobiles are not allowed in exam centres. However, the PSC had mentioned that SFI leaders got the answers via SMS. If it is so, this will not happen without the consent of the invigilator. The government should clarify whether a probe is held on it, asked Chennithala.
When allegations were levelled, the chief minister alleged that there is a bid to tarnish the image of the PSC, pointed Chennithala. The chief minister did not forget to haunt the media when they exposed the information. The CM had tried to defend the PSC. The chief minister tried to protect those responsible following the seizure of answer sheets from the house of the accused. The chief minister himself has blemished the post he is holding.
Not only the credibility of the PSC but also the credibility of the chief minister has been lost. Everyone knows what will happen if this police department which is under the chief minister, moves forward with further probe, So, a CBI probe is needed on it. If not willing for it, then will approach the court. The police under the chief minister will try to save the accused.
The chief minister had rejected the crime branch probe announced by the DGP related to the seizure of answer sheets. Chennithala asked why the chief minister is scared of the probe.
