NEW DELHI: While discussing on the bill to bifurcate J&K, Amit Shah’s question left Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury totally puzzled.

"You say it is an internal matter. The UN has been monitoring the situation since 1948. Then there is Simla Agreement and Lahore Declaration. Whether this is a bilateral matter or an internal matter. Now once Jammu and Kashmir has been bifurcated, what shall be the status of PoK." he asked.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked another question whether the Congress is seeking the intervention of UN in the matter. He said that Kashmir is an integral part of India and when speaking on Kashmir that includes PoK as well. The response was sharp and left Chowdhury scrambling for a reply.

Chowdhury’s statement embarrassed Sonia Gandhi as she and Rahul Gandhi expressed their discontent towards the statement. Chowdhury told the media that his statement was misinterpreted.
