WASHINGTON: In a recent development, the US has warned Pakistan to keep away from any sort of retaliatory aggression towards India as a result of the Kashmir issue. The statement from the US is seen vital as Pakistan has decided to cut off diplomatic ties with India as a protest.
The statement was made jointly by House Foreign Affairs Committee Senator Bob Menendez and Congressman Eliot Engel. The two asked Pakistan government to stop supporting terrorism and infiltration attempts in the Kashmir area. The statement said, "Pakistan must refrain from any retaliatory aggression—including support for infiltrations across the Line of Control—and take demonstrable action against the terrorist infrastructure on Pakistan’s soil."
They also expressed hope that the Government of India will abide by the principles of political participation and transparency. Earlier, the US had announced that it has been closely watching the developments in Kashmir. It must be noted that Pakistan had urged US President Donald Trump to mediate in the issue.
