THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Twenty people have been killed so far in the heavy rains lashing the state. 10 people have died today alone. Four are missing in the landslide at Vilangad in Vatakara and two in the currents at Kuttiyadi. The body of a missing person from Vilangad has been found. Three houses in Vilangad are under water. In the meanwhile, central water commission has issued a flood warning to all districts except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
A family of four was killed after their house collapsed Friday morning at Edavanna Othayil in Malappuram. A couple and their two children were those killed. They have been identified as Unais, Nusrat, Sana and Shanil. Two were washed away in Valayannur in Kozhikode Kuttiyadi. Maqool Muhammed Haji and Sherif Saqafi are those killed. Three are missing in the landslides at Vilangad in Vatakara.
A body was recovered from Puthumala in Wayanad where a landslide occurred. Reports says that almost more than fifty people are stranded. People are able to travel only till Kalladi sector. MLA and sub collector and many others are at Kalladi. Rescue operators are trying to shift people lodged at forest office to a safer place. All low lying areas in the state are under water. Red alert has been sounded in four districts and orange alert in five districts. Heavy showers are predicted till Sunday. There are floods in Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Idukki districts.
