ALUVA: Rescue mission here at Aluva Manappuram faced a difficult time due to an old timer’s playful swimming. Kodungalloor native Krishnan jumped into the river here during the rescue operation in front of the locals and the police. The incident was around 3 pm.
Krishnan disappeared a few minutes after taking a leap into the river. Sometime later, he was spotted near a banyan tree. The police asked him to swim to shore, but he didn’t care. He climbed the banyan tree. Rescue activists swam towards the banyan tree and asked to climb down. Ignoring this, Krishnan swam towards Manappuram Temple.
On approaching the temple pillar, he suddenly disappeared again. The locals and police searched for him, but to no avail. They had to back off from rescue operation due to adverse conditions. Then the assistance of the navy was sought to find Krishnan.
But after some time, locals spotted him walking on the road. He was nabbed by the locals before handing over to police. Krishnan was given a warning, but case was not registered. Krishnan told police that he is a coconut tree climber and such things are not an issue for him. He also said that he used to starve for days and meditate at Kudajadri.
