ATTAPPADI: Amidst the wreckage and havoc caused by heavy rainfall, a scene of rescuing an 11-month-old baby and mother has filled hearts of the Keralites. In an adventurous mission, the rescue was made possible in a joint operation by the fire force and the police.
The mother and child duo were trapped in one side and were taken to the other side through a rope tied across the river. The child’s father was hooked on to this rope, who held the child on his chest. Following this, Lavanya, who was pregnant, was also rescued. Doctors were prepared on the opposite side of the river and subjected them to medical treatment.
The family was trapped in an isle in Attappady, a point where Bhavani River splits into two. Earlier, 60-year-old Pazhaniyamma and her family were rescued after a combined attempt by the locals, police and fire force.
