The Met department has issued Red Alert in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod on August 11 (Sunday). In these districts there are chances for extremely heavy rains (more than 204 mm rain in the next 24 hours). This will also increase the probability of floods, flash floods, thunderstorm and landslides.
The Indian Met department has issued Orange Alerts in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode on August 11, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod on August 12 , Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad on August 13 and Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad on August 14.
In districts where Orange Alert has been declared, there are chances for heavy (up to115mm) to very heavy rains (115 mm to 204.5 mm)
The Yellow Alert has also been declared in Ernakulam, and Kozhikode on August 13 and August 14.
Meanwhile, rain is continuing in several parts of the State. Till now, 55 people have died in rain and flood ravages, according to official information.
Nilamboor which has been under shock following heavy rains and landslides, went through anxious moments again when landslides recurred during rescue operations.
