ERUMAPPETTI: While the entire state is devastated by the ongoing flood, locals in Chittanda in Thrissur were horrified when they heard a roaring sound beneath the earth's surface. They also heard sounds of bubbling water which raised doubts that there might be a flash flood soon in the area.
The locals immediately informed this to the authorities and geologists reached the area within no time. On further inspection, geologists under the leadership of MC Kishore found out that it is the sound of groundwater flowing between the rocks beneath the earth's surface. They also made it clear that there is no chance of a flash flood in the area.
However, the geologists warned the locals to move to relief camps temporarily as there is a chance of landslide in the hilly regions due to continuous heavy rains.
