stabbing-case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An order has been issued to shift Shivaranjith and Nissam, the University stabbing case accused, to Central jail. The order was issued by Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in response to the petition filed by the accused.

In the petition they had urged the court to shift them from the district jail as they “face chances of contracting communicable disease in the jail and their life is under threat”.

The court considered their argument that they were facing life threat from the prisoners accused of killing a youth called Ananthu in Karamana.

However, the jail superintend had submitted a report in the court, stating that there was no problem or any incident of epidemics in the jail.
Meanwhile, the court rejected the bail plea of Shivaranjith in the case in which he is accused of stealing the seal of the University College Education director. The bail was rejected after accepting the police report which said that there was strong evidence against the accused.

The argument of the accused was that the University authorities had not filed any complaint regarding the missing seal but the court didn’t accept this.

Incidentally, the police have recorded the statement of Akhil who was stabbed during the attack. He told the police that it was first accused Sivaranjith who had stabbed him. During the attack, Nassim had held him tight and Sivaranjith stabbed him.
