THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state heaved a sigh of relief on Friday as the prospects of a heavy rain waned. There will no heavy rains in the state for a week as rains that were lashing the state have mitigated, informed the Meteorological Department. This is likely to continue for two more days, the MeT department said. Layer of clouds over Kerala has also left. With this, all weather warnings previously announced in the state have been withdrawn.

There is no red alert in any district of the state. The yellow alert announced yesterday has been withdrawn. Though there are chances for isolated rains in some places, the strength of western winds blowing in Kerala has faded. The warning given to fishermen has also been withdrawn. The warning was withdrawn after the sea was found calm.

There was no heavy rains in any part of Kerala yesterday. The rain which started on August 7 lasted more than a week in Kerala. The entire state was in a state of distress due to flood waters and landslides caused by rains. However, the northern districts and central Kerala were the most affected.
